When we were kids, lego toys were simple: A big rectangular box full of little blocks. Sure, there were different shapes - squares, rectangles, flat pieces, even an occasional wheel. But Lego toys have come a LONG WAY!
Last Christmas, I asked one of my nephews what he wanted from Santa Clause. He said, "I want the Bionacle Keetongu!" Uhhh, huh? Turns out, Keetongu is a fierce fighter who is rumored to have taken refuge on Metru Nui - oh - that clears it up.
Lego launched the Bionacle series back in 2001 and it took off right away. Each year, the Bionacle story changes slightly as the action figures change, new charactors are introduced and new worlds are conquered or protected.
Lego toys have come a long way! Along with Bionacles, lego introduced the Mindstorm robots. A central computer about the size of a walkman is built into the frame of the lego character. Thsi allows the user to control his newly created lego robot. This is creativity at it's best - I can;t wait to see what they come up with next! Both Bionacles and Mindstorm sets are perfect gifts for any boy (or girl!). The creative juices will flow as the Toa Inika seek the Kanohi Mask of Life!
Lego goes one step further. They have set up a FANTASTIC online world for Bionacles and other game sets. Kids can set up a "My Bionacle" profile and get up to date info on the various characters and story lines. It's really something to behold! Even Jingles the Elf got caught up in the act...
I can't wait for my new Bionacle set - It'll be great fun, wanna make a bet?"
At TheKIDShoppe.com, we looked at many of the most popular lego toys - even the ones that haven't changed much in the past 25 years. You'll find tehm all here - just have a look around.
